The partnership, unveiled on Thursday, positions The Nairobi Hospital as the Official Healthcare Partner of the Nairobi Polo Club, with a mandate to safeguard players, officials and spectators through world-class emergency medical services while championing preventive healthcare.
Under the agreement, the hospital will deploy ambulances, trained emergency response teams and advanced medical equipment at all major polo events during the season. The collaboration will also include health screenings, wellness education and player welfare programmes aimed at raising safety standards in one of Kenya's oldest sporting disciplines.
In a further boost to the partnership, The Nairobi Hospital has also been unveiled as the Headline Sponsor of the 2026 Pink Polo Tournament set for October. The tournament will serve as a platform to promote cancer awareness, encourage regular screening and educate Kenyans on the importance of early detection.
Speaking on Thursday during the event, The Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer Felix Osano said the partnership reflects the hospital's commitment to improving lives beyond the walls of its facilities.
"This collaboration allows The Nairobi Hospital to remain a visible presence in the everyday lives of our community, supporting people not only in moments of illness or emergency, but throughout their pursuit of healthier and more active lifestyles. Our role as Headline Sponsor of the Pink Polo Tournament further demonstrates our commitment to championing preventive healthcare, particularly cancer awareness and early detection, while using sport as a platform to inspire healthier communities," Osano said.
Dr. Barcley Onyambu, Chairman of the Board of Management at The Nairobi Hospital, said the initiative demonstrates the institution's belief that healthcare should be accessible both inside and outside hospitals.
Meanwhile, Nairobi Polo Club Chairman Simon Muchene hailed the partnership as a game-changer for the sport, saying it will enhance player safety and give participants confidence that professional medical care will always be available during competitions.
Founded more than 70 years ago, The Nairobi Hospital is one of Kenya's leading healthcare institutions, while the Nairobi Polo Club has been promoting the sport since 1907. Both institutions say the partnership marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration focused on healthier communities, safer sporting events and the continued growth of polo in Kenya.
